About Nigel
Nigel is a UK-based contemporary artist who uses an exciting and diverse range of visual processes to create his art. He views his art as an opportunity to experience the world, both as momentary human occurances as well as a challange to understand new things.
Nigel grew up in Bridgwater, Somerset, England, where the yearly, historic Bridgwater Carnival takes place in November. As a boy, each year he stood with his family on a cold winter's night mesmerised by the colourful, energetic and vibrant parade of brightly lit bulbs, and the dancing and singing characters of the carnival floats. These childhood experiences have deeply impacted on his art is deeply influenced by of these wonderful childhood experiences, and this has resulted in his work taking multiple forms to satisfy his restless and inquisitive mind.
The mechanical energy, the bright lights, and engergetic sounds and the movement of the colourful characters and costumes indelibly left a mark on his mind and these experiences have subsequently manifested themselves in his diverse approach to creating work.
